Process Technology International, Inc. (PTI) is pleased to announce receipt of a contract to install PTI's patented JetBOx^TM system on the 75 ton Consteel AC EAF at Gerdau AmeriSteel's Charlotte, NC mill. The system includes two (2) JetBOxes^TM capable of introducing shrouded supersonic oxygen and injected carbon, flow control train, two (2) carbon injection systems, and an integrated automation and control system.

The JetBOx^TM system is particularly suited for the continuous charging/melting practice and fluctuating bath levels inherent in the Consteel process. The ability of the JetBOx^TM injectors to operate submerged in the foamy slag layer significantly improves the efficiency of oxygen, carbon and natural gas inputs and helps reduce energy losses to the furnace off gas and sidewalls. Natural gas for oxygen jet shrouding can also be reduced due to the close proximity to the metal bath.

PTI's JetBOx^TM technology has now been adopted by over 40 steel plants worldwide with more than 150 JetBOxes^TM in operation.
