PTI can provide the hardware to read the furnace electrical power characteristics and generate a foamy slag index. The foamy slag index reflects the quality of the foamy slag.

The index can be logged for production quality records, it can be used by the operator as a tool to help improve production, and it can be used by the control system to adjust the process inputs.
